The Whale and the Albatross is Published!

The Whale and The Albatross is borned.

Hey y’all! I’m so very excited to announce that my book, The Whale and the Albatross is now available for print on demand via IndieBound.org, Barnes and Noble, and RIGHT HERE on my website!

While the story has been on YouTube for a few years, the book project has taken a bit longer to nurture. Now that it is real, I cannot wait to see what this little book can do.

I’ll be spending the next number of months hoofing this book around to local mom and pop book stores, libraries, and anywhere it will be welcomed. I’ll also start planning some live readings which I will share here.

As a reminder, I have a Patreon page and ALL of my Patrons will receive a free copy of my book. I will even sign it for you if you like! Want me to dedicate it to a nibling? Fur baby? Your inner child? I’d love to do it! Hop on over to Patreon to see which tier might suit you best.

In the meantime, check out the YouTube video, let me know what you think.

If you do end up purchasing a book and enjoying it, I would be so grateful if you would leave a review on Amazon, Barnes and Nobel, or IndieBound. It would help give this little book a fighting chance.

Thank you all for your support! I look forward to seeing you in the wide world someday.

Introducing Scott Bird.

This pandemic has simultaneously trapped me in place AND taken me all over the map.  I’ve lost connection with a number of people with whom I would normally be in more regular contact, I’ve made new connections with people who were once on the periphery, and I’ve strengthened and grown some relationships that didn’t have the space to be grown or strengthened in the Before Times.

One of those relationships has been with my friend Scott Bird.  Scott is a Poet, painter, musician and activist in San Francisco, California. He is the youngest member of the Revolutionary Poets Brigade  of San Francisco and co-editor of their annual international poetry anthology. Originally from Paradox, Colorado (WHAT A NAME!), his works reflect the American West from indigenous sovereignty and wilderness defense to working class struggle and the queer experience.

Scott and I have been putting together a collection of tunes penned by the likes of Dolly Parton and Porter Wagner, Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty, Johnny Cash & June Carter and more and more.  We will be live streaming our new set on Monday, 3/8 at 7:30pm PST on Facebook Live.

If you don’t know where to find me on Facebook, all you have to do is CLICK HERE to join on Monday. Keep this post handy until then!

I am so so so very excited to introduce you to my friend Scott Bird and to play some new tunes for you.  You can learn more about Scott on his website.

See you Monday!

I Totally Forgot to Post This Here

I released this video on the Youtubes and, silly me, I forgot to place it here for you.

I’m so sorry. I hope you are all well and getting your vaccines. I’m still awaiting my turn because I am not yet eligible. But I’m looking forward to when I can join the noble ranks of responsible fellow citizens.

In the meantime, enjoy my innermost thoughts on the whole ordeal. It’s been a year since we all locked ourselves indoors. Can you believe that?

I’ve got more songs on the way, so stay tuned! In the meantime, have a listen to Am I Crazy .

Love u.

Happy Holidays from My Isolation Chamber to Yours.

Hello, dear and distant friends.

To say that I miss performing for live human beings would be an understated estimation of a hyperbolic and rhetorical boring-ass question.

I’m so starved for live banter that I’ve started stringing words together that have no business being in the same room.

Speaking of! That’s what I miss most. Have I mentioned that yet? I miss being in your personal space. I don’t care how creepy that sounds.

Speaking of sounds! I’ve recorded some for you here! In this vid, I’ve repurposed some old Christmas lyrics into something a bit more……2020 forward. The vintage is shit and there is basically NO nose (thanks COVID!), but it’s got heart and sentiment and a bit of clunk, which is a true representation of my current state. So, please enjoy as much as you can.

I so hope to see you in the not too distant future.

Oh, and please get the GD vaccine, so we can get there ASAP.

Thank youuuuuuuuuuuu! <3

Turn The Mirror

The story of Medusa, retold and reclaimed for a new generation. This may not the happiest of endings, but it is the more realistic and warrior worthy ending.

Click the image below and you will see all the magic created by Kevin Shipp, May Yang, and Kenny Schick of Basement 3 Productions.

You can purchase the song on my bandcamp site at https://emilyzisman.bandcamp.com/

Thank you for listening.

The Myth Will Be Told Anew.

The final Bandcamp Friday is coming up on December 4th. That’s a special day when Bandcamp waves all fees and all of the money spent to purchase music goes directly to the artists. But the reason I’M excited about this date is that I’m releasing a piece I’ve been working on since 2017. So, please come back and see what we’ve done. It’s exactly as I intended it, and that is not always how things work out. Stay tuned! <3
